Today, an IMF mission will travel to Pakistan to discuss the FY2026–2027 budget.

On Tuesday, a group from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is expected to arrive in Pakistan as talks for the federal budget for the fiscal year 2026–2027 get underway.

The official engagement between the economic team and the IMF mission on budget formulation is scheduled to start on May 13 and go through May 20, according to sources.

Key fiscal measures, such as tax revenue targets, policy changes, and suggested development expenditures for the next budget, will be the main topics of discussion.

According to officials, talks will also address measures to strengthen fiscal restraint and guarantee better coordination between public spending and overall financial planning.

As part of the continuing consultation process, the IMF team is anticipated to examine Pakistan’s macroeconomic framework, revenue mobilization plan, and spending objectives.

The involvement, according to the authorities, is a component of larger initiatives to bolster financial stability and sustain the pace of economic reform in advance of the upcoming fiscal year.
