Today, PM Shehbaz will start his two-day official visit to Bahrain.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will begin a two-day official visit to Bahrain on Wednesday, accompanied by a high-level team that includes top government officials, federal ministers, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.

The Foreign Office reports that the prime minister will meet with Bahrain’s leadership at a high level. Expanding bilateral cooperation in important areas like commerce, investment, energy, technology, education, and culture will be the main topic of discussion. The purpose of the visit is to strengthen existing strong diplomatic ties, improve people-to-people interactions, and find new cooperation opportunities.

Pakistan and Bahrain decided in September to increase cooperation in immigration, coast guard operations, anti-narcotics, and counterterrorism. The deal, which was concluded during a meeting between Bahraini Interior Minister General Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa and Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, also included improved border security and police training collaboration. To manage collaboration in these key areas, the parties agreed to form a Joint Working Group.

Additionally, the two nations are attempting to formalise several Memorandums of Understanding pertaining to mutual legal aid, extradition, and specific battalion training. According to officials, these frameworks will encourage security alliances, strengthen institutional cooperation, and facilitate the successful execution of common goals.

This official visit, according to the Foreign Office, highlights Pakistan’s ongoing engagement with Bahrain with the goal of developing a strategic and results-driven alliance founded on regional stability and mutual benefit.
