Today, the PTI will stage nationwide demonstrations against suspected electoral manipulation.

Due to allegations of massive election manipulation, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is scheduled to hold statewide rallies today, Friday.

It is planned for protests to happen all around the country, including in Lahore, party insiders have said.

PTI spokesperson: PTI members of the Provincial Assembly (MPAs), Members of the National Assembly (MNAs), and ticket holders are allegedly being raided by police.

The spokesperson claimed that these actions were taken to prevent scheduled protests over the suspected manipulation of the recent by-elections.

Notably, the PTI has called for these nationwide demonstrations in reaction to what they claim was mandate theft in the general elections on February 8 and fraud and tampering in the by-elections on April 21.

PTI attacks ECP

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) was criticized a few days prior by Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), who said that the commission had not conducted the by-elections on 21 national and provincial seats in a transparent manner.

Speaking with reporters outside the Khattala polling place in the PP-32 seat of Gujarat, Gohar described the by-elections as a farce and maintained that legitimate public representatives with popular backing should make up parliament instead of those chosen through electoral malpractice.

The PTI, according to Gohar, would not accept the results of the by-elections in the PP-32 constituency.
