Water levels in Nullah Dek increase, flood situation develops

The water level in Nullah Dek continued to climb on Sunday with moderate flood reported by irrigation authorities as substantial flow of water passes through channel.

The Irrigation Department said about 16,000 cusecs of water was presently flowing through the Nullah Dek. The stream has a carrying capacity of 30,000 cusecs.

The district administration has been put on alert and is closely monitoring the water levels and the flow of the nullah with the rising flood situation.

Residents living near Nullah Dek have been told to stay away from the watercourse unless they need to be there, and to be careful as the scenario unfolds.

The Irrigation Department has cautioned that if further rain falls in the area, the water flow could increase further.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation and have advised inhabitants in sensitive locations to stay alert and adhere to official safety directives.
