When his health worsened, Justice Musarrat Hilali hurried to the hospital.

Acting Chief Justice Minib Akhtar paid her a visit at the hospital to find out how she was feeling. Governor Haji Ghulam Ali of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also paid her a visit at the hospital, wishing her a quick recovery.

After receiving permission from the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP), Justice Musarrat Hilali was sworn in as a judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan last year, making history as the nation’s second female justice.

Justice Hilali: who is she?
Judge Hilali was born in Peshawar on August 8, 1961. He graduated from Khyber Law College at Peshawar University and became a member of the district courts’ advocacy board in 1983, the high court’s advocacy board in 1988, and the supreme court of Pakistan’s advocacy board in 2006.

In November 2001 to March 2004, she served as the first female Additional Advocate General for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. She was also the first female head of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Environment Protection Tribunal subsequent to her appointment.

Additionally, she held the position of the first female Ombudsman for the Defense of Women from Workplace Harassment. On March 26, 2013, the Peshawar High Court confirmed her as an additional judge, and on March 13, 2014, the court confirmed her as a permanent judge.

She was sworn in as the interim CJ of PHC on April 1, 2023.
