The International Court of Arbitration mandates India to disclose hydroelectric documentation to Pakistan.

Pakistan has gained a significant victory over India in the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) issue, after the International Court of Arbitration’s directive for New Delhi to provide operating documents from two disputed hydroelectric projects.

The Court of Arbitration mandated a 13-page procedural order for India to provide operating logbooks from the Baglihar and Kishanganga hydropower projects by February 9, 2026. India must either adhere to the requirements or provide a formal explanation for any refusal.

Pakistan must delineate the precise documents it need by February 2, 2026. A hearing for the second phase on the merits is set to occur in The Hague from February 2 to 3, irrespective of India’s involvement.

A senior Pakistani team, headed by the Attorney General and included the Pakistan Commissioner for Indus Waters, will depart for The Hague today (Saturday) for the hearing.
