The Courts Journalists Association has elected a new governing body.

The Courts Journalists Association (CJA) elected its new leadership on Saturday, appointing Muhammad Ashfaq as President and Muhammad Haroon as Secretary.

Imran Ehsan was appointed Senior Vice President, Sheikh Zain-ul-Abideen as Vice President, Rana Bilal as Finance Secretary, Suleman Awan as Information Secretary, and Asad Shah as Secretary of Digital Media.

President of the Lahore Press Club, Arshad Ansari, along with representatives from the Pakistan Bar Council and Punjab Bar Council, Federal Minister for Law Azam Nazeer Tarar, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Provincial Information Minister Azma Bukhari, and various other federal and provincial ministers and bar councils, conveyed their congratulations and best wishes to the newly elected office-bearers.

The elections for the Courts Journalists Association took place in the press room of the Lahore High Court.

All candidates, including the president, were elected unopposed due to the absence of competing nomination papers.

Simultaneously, Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Bar Council Pir Masood Chishti, Member of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan Ahsan Bhoon, Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Executive Punjab Bar Council and President of the Lahore High Court Bar Asif Niswaana, Secretary of the Lahore High Court Bar Farrukh Ilyas Cheema, President of the Lahore Bar Association Irfan Hayat Bajwa, and representatives from the Lahore Press Club extended their congratulations to the newly elected cabinet.

They characterized the democratic election of leadership as a favorable advancement.

They asserted that court reporters have consistently maintained journalistic principles and expressed optimism that the newly elected officials would enhance the institution further.

They stated that court reporters function as a crucial link between the legal system and the public, and articulated hopes that the new team would address journalists’ concerns and enhance the quality of reporting.

Senior journalists Gul Chaman Shah, Habib Chohan, and Shadab Riaz served as the electoral commission during the polls.

Over 45 court reporters participated in the elections, including prominent journalists Jalil-ur-Rehman, Sajid Zia, Malik Ashraf, Zia-ur-Rehman, Faisal Khan, Tariq Khan, Arif Malik, Shakir Awan, Waqas Awan, Arshad Ali, Rai Shah Nawaz, Naveed Hayat, Yasir Abbasi, Hafiz Abdul Rehman, Riaz Bhatti, Shaukat Saeed, Rana Tariq Mahmood, Shahzada Khalid, Talha Qureshi, Shabbir Zafar Choudhry, Natiq Rehan, Abubakar, Mustaqeem Nawaz, and Ehsan Ahmed.
