The court affirms the validity of arrest warrants issued against KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.

The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad on Saturday affirmed the arrest warrants for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi in a case associated with purportedly deceptive allegations against state institutions.
The court observed that the defendant was missing and had not been presented, despite prior directives, resulting in additional delays in the proceedings.
The hearing occurred at the District and Sessions Courts in Islamabad, presided over by Senior Civil Judge Abbas Shah. The court was notified that CM Sohail Afridi could not be apprehended and brought before it.
The judge mandated the continuation of the arrest warrants and instructed the authorities to secure the apprehension and presentation of the accused at the forthcoming hearing. The court emphasized that adherence to its directives was necessary to advance the case.
Sohail Afridi is accused of issuing statements that purportedly mislead the public and undermined the confidence of governmental institutions, as per the case record. The case has been filed under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).
The prosecution notified the court that the case was filed by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency under applicable legal provisions.
Following the concise presentations, the court postponed more proceedings until March 9.
