Atta Tarar reiterates Pakistan’s commitment to Kashmiris’ right to self-determination

As stated by Attaullah Tarar, the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Pakistan has reaffirmed its support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination on Youm-e-Istehsal. He also stated that India’s actions on August 5, 2019, were a flagrant violation of United Nations resolutions and international law.
Tarar stated in his message that was sent on August 5 to commemorate Youm-e-Istehsal that the date continues to serve as a gloomy reminder of India’s unilateral acts, which occurred when India attempted to change the status of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, which is widely contested.
He stated that the actions committed by India on August 5, 2019, were in violation of resolutions passed by the United Nations Security Council, international law, and the right of the Kashmiri people to exercise their right to self-determination.
Despite what he described as persecution, restrictions, and attempts to alter the demographic mix of the occupied region, the information minister stated that India had been unsuccessful in its efforts to destroy the spirit of freedom among the Kashmiri people.
A plebiscite that is held in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and the desires of the Kashmiri people is the only long-term solution to the Jammu and Kashmir problem, according to Tarar, who stated that the right of the Kashmiri people to self-determination must be acknowledged.
It was his hope that the world community would take notice of the alleged egregious abuses of human rights that have been committed in Jammu and Kashmir, which is illegally occupied by India. He went on to say that the government of Pakistan, which was led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, was bringing up the Kashmir problem at every major international forum. He also stated that the government of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) remained unwavering in its commitment to the Kashmir cause.
In addition to stating that India must acknowledge the facts and respect the desires of the Kashmiri people, the federal minister stated that Pakistan’s civilian and military leadership had a single view on Kashmir.
In addition, he stated that Pakistan would continue its efforts for peace based on justice and would stand with the Kashmiri people until they achieved their right to self-determination. He stated that a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute was essential for the maintenance of long-term peace and stability in the region.
