Bilawal: Kashmiris have right to chose their own future

“People of Kashmir should have the right to decide their own government and future through the power of their vote,” Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said on Saturday.

Bilawal, in a video message broadcast ahead of the impending elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, said he wanted Kashmiris to enjoy the same democratic rights as every Pakistani citizen, the first being the right to self-governance.

“It’s about respecting the vote of the people and reflecting that in the results of the elections,” he stated about self-governance.

The PPP chairman also demanded Kashmir to have its own representation in national institutions where decisions about the region’s water resources, energy and budget are taken.

Bilawal asked the voters to vote for his party in the August 2 polls, saying that the people should stamp the arrow sign in favour of the right to self-governance, adding that “Kashmir’s future should be decided by Kashmiris.”
