CM Maryam honors the Jand hero

On Monday, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz paid a heartfelt homage to a courageous civilian who gave his life to stop a suicide bomber in order to prevent a possibly catastrophic terror strike close to a sensitive region in Jand.

The martyr Liaqat, who lived in Mankor village in Jand tehsil of Attock district in the Punjab province, was praised by Maryam Nawaz for his tremendous sacrifice. The Attock police team’s valiant response at the Khushhal Garh checkpoint was also commended by the Chief Minister.

Maryam Nawaz said that the martyr Liaqat’s sacrifice will always be remembered and offered her condolences to his family. She added that every effort will be made to guarantee Punjab’s security and the safety of its people.

It is important to note that a courageous civilian gave his life to protect locals and a vital security checkpoint from a potential terrorist attack close to the Jand and Khushal Garh Bridge interprovincial area.

Media accounts state that Liaqat stopped a suspicious individual, thought to be a Khawarij terrorist, as he was passing through nearby agricultural fields and inquired about his identity.

The accused suicide bomber panicked and set himself off while being questioned. Liaqat immediately accepted martyrdom as a result, and the explosion also killed the attacker.
