CTD kills alleged mastermind of Kohat Police Lines suicide attack in Lakki Marwat

The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Lakki Marwat and security forces in an intelligence based joint operation killed terrorist Zahid Gul, the accused mastermind of suicide attack on Kohat Police Lines, in FR Lakki Marwat.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CTD said Zahid Gul, a prominent commander of the Gul Bahadur militant group, was killed in the operation. The killed terrorist was recognized as the architect of the suicide attack on Kohat Police Lines.

A CTD spokesperson said that Zahid Gul himself drove the explosive laden suicide vehicle used in Kohat Police Lines incident. He was also wanted by security officials for several additional significant acts of terrorism.

Zahid Gul was also present in the Billa Tangi bank heist in which Rs6 million was looted, stated CTD. The money looted was divided among militant groupings active in Bakkakhel and Jani Khel, in Bannu.

The killed terrorist was having close contacts with Gul Bahadur organization and was facilitating multiple suicide bombers to Kohat, the statement claimed.

The CTD Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said the terrorist had brought a suicide bomber for an attack on the new Kohat Police Lines two months ago but the effort was prevented.

The statement said the terrorist had targeted a Pakistan Air Force base and a police training academy at Kohat. Other members of the militant outfit have been arrested by security forces.
