Foiled terrorist assault on police station in Bannu

A terrorist assault on the Mazanga police post in Bannu was thwarted thanks to the prompt and efficient reaction of security forces.

Police report that a substantial contingent of militants initiated an assault on the outpost at approximately 1:30 AM, eliciting rapid and vigorous counteraction from security personnel.

The gunfire persisted until daylight, at which point the assailants were compelled to withdraw, incurring casualties.

Subsequent to the event, reinforcements from Bannu Police Lines arrived at the location under the command of DPO Yasir Afridi, while additional security forces assumed control of the area.

In a collaborative search operation, blood traces were discovered at the location, alongside weapons and equipment left by the assailants, including bandoliers, a ladder, and footwear.

Constable Fareedullah sustained minor injuries while exhibiting valour during the encounter and received prompt medical attention.

Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed, commended the personnel’s work, deeming them a significant addition to the province.

He stated that terrorists assault victims with cowardly actions but will encounter a grim destiny.

DPO Yasir Afridi asserted that Bannu Police is resolutely committed to eradicating terrorism and is responding vigorously to all such assaults.
