Following the Hyderabad explosion, a crackdown was initiated on illegal firework manufacturing.

After a horrific explosion that left six persons dead and numerous others gravely injured, Hyderabad’s Deputy Commissioner (DC) has ordered a thorough crackdown on illicit firecracker manufacturing facilities and warehouses.

The DC has established special committees to find and close any unapproved firework warehouses, manufacturers, stores, and LPG filling stations that are operating outside safety regulations, per an official announcement. The committees, which include SHOs, DSPs, and Assistant Commissioners, have been charged with carrying out in-depth investigations and initiating a swift crackdown throughout the district.

Inspection teams will visit markets, warehouses, and covert manufacturing locations to gather information on illicit setups, according to the notification. Any unit operating without authorisation or in violation of safety regulations will be immediately sealed. All found materials will also be seized by the authorities, and owners and facilitators of these illegal enterprises will face severe legal punishment.

In order to guarantee prompt execution of the crackdown, DC Hyderabad Zain-ul-Abideen has also instructed officials to convene frequent review sessions and provide weekly progress reports.

The decision comes after a strong explosion at a Hyderabad fireworks plant the previous day. At least six workers were killed and about seven more, some of whom are in critical condition, were injured when the building collapsed due to the explosion. Widespread worry about the existence of illicit firecracker production facilities functioning without safety precautions in crowded locations has been aroused by the sad event.

According to authorities, the crackdown is intended to stop other deaths and guarantee that safety rules are followed throughout Hyderabad.
