GCU Faisalabad student discovered deceased in hostel

A student from Government College University (GCU) Faisalabad was discovered deceased in a hostel adjacent to the university, with authorities indicating that it seems to be a suicide case.

The deceased, identified as Amjad, a resident of Jhang, was enrolled in the mass communication department and resided in private hostel accommodations near the university.

Police report that Amjad purportedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling with a bedsheet. Officials stated that the precise causes of the tragedy remain undetermined.

Jhang Bazaar Police officials reported that the student was engaged in an internet business, and initial evaluations indicate that financial losses may have played a role in the tragedy. Nevertheless, they stated that investigations are continuing to determine the facts.

Upon the completion of legal formalities, the remains were entrusted to the family for interment.

The episode has elicited apprehensions among students and staff, prompting demands for enhanced awareness and support mechanisms to tackle the mental health and financial challenges encountered by youth.
