Maryam Nawaz says ‘clean’ Punjab is foundation for healthy, wealthy future

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has remarked that cleanliness is half of the faith for every Muslim while a clean Punjab is the foundation of a healthy and wealthy future.

In a message on the World Cleanup Day, Maryam Nawaz stated that Suthra Punjab Project was establishing the foundation of a better and healthier Punjab. “It’s the biggest of its kind in the world,” she said.

A systematic initiative has been initiated for the first time for cleaning 25,000 villages together with cities, the chief minister stated. She said the Safe City cameras were also monitoring the clean-up status on roads, streets and in neighborhoods across Punjab.

It is the obligation of the government to ensure that the streets and neighborhoods are clean and it is the job of the inhabitants to keep them clean, Maryam Nawaz remarked. Sustainable and ecological friendly measures were also being introduced under Suthra Punjab Program, she said.

A clean environment helps to avoid diseases and ensures better quality of life,” she said. “We are committed to making Punjab clean and green and making the health of its people one of the top priorities of the government,” she said.

“It is vital to keep the planet clean to save the environment and its survival,” the chief minister said. “It was a collective social responsibility to keep one’s surroundings clean,” she explained.

Maryam Nawaz said plans are being made for waste recycling, waste management and cleanliness of public places.

A clean Pakistan was the basis of a healthy and developed Pakistan, she remarked. The chief minister appealed to the public to adopt suitable means for waste disposal, refrain from using plastic and play their full role in keeping their houses, streets and neighborhoods clean.
