May 2026 is expected to be a month abundant in holidays for Pakistanis.

May 2026 is anticipated to offer an extended holiday period for individuals throughout Pakistan, with projections indicating a total of 14 to 15 days off when public holidays and weekends are aggregated.
The month will commence with an extended weekend, as Labour Day occurs on a Friday, succeeded by the standard weekend on May 2 and 3, providing both public and private sector employees with three uninterrupted days off.
Additional holidays are expected at the month’s conclusion owing to Eid al-Adha. If the moon is observed on May 17, Eid is anticipated to occur between May 27 and 29, possibly resulting in a five-day holiday when paired with the weekend.
If the moon is not spotted and the month lasts 30 days, Eid may be celebrated from May 28 to 30, with Sunday, May 31, extending the holiday length.
There is also speculation that the government may announce an additional holiday on Monday, May 25. If true, it would coincide with the weekend of May 23 and 24, creating another extended holiday.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is set to convene on May 17 to observe the moon of Zil Hajj, following which the definitive dates for Eid will be formally announced.
