New provinces, presidential, LG systems not far off: PML-N senator

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Chaudhry Jaffar Iqbal has remarked that the establishment of new provinces, presidential system and empowered local government system is not far away.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, the senator said there was no major hurdle in the creation of Bahawalpur and Islamabad provinces and urged the government to take action in this regard.

He said that the Punjab Assembly had issued a resolution in favour of Bahawalpur province in 2012.

Chaudhry Jaffar Iqbal claimed the feudal class was creating difficulties in the construction of new provinces as it feared losing its power and authority.

He said PML-N was struggling for construction of new administrative divisions since the last 12 years.

He expressed hope that reforms addressing provincial boundaries, presidential system and municipal governments would be introduced soon enough.
