Security agents stop terrorist infiltration bid from Afghanistan in Kurram

The infiltration attempt was undertaken from Afghan Taliban bases in Nangarhar and Paktia provinces, the sources claimed. Pakistani troops along the border successfully repelled the effort and prevented the extremists from infiltrating into Pakistani territory.

Sources stated Afghan Taliban militants attacked Pakistani border checkpoints in the Kurram sector with heavy guns, mortars and other weaponry following the failure of the infiltration attempt.

The security forces of Pakistan replied with small and heavy weapons, including artillery, mortar positions and defensive positions, striking multiple border stations of the Afghan Taliban.

The positions from which the fire was being carried out were successfully silenced, the security sources said of the Pakistani reaction. After the fierce retaliation, a number of Taliban militants in Afghanistan deserted their positions and fled.

Security sources claimed Pakistani soldiers had total control of the border areas and were on high alert to foil any fresh attempt of infiltration or violence.

The new incident comes amid increased tension along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, following a series of security operations against terrorist groups operating in the region.
