Six children die as house roof collapses in KP’s Shangla

Six children from the same family were murdered and another injured when the roof of a mud house caved in in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Shangla area, rescue officials said Tuesday.
“Seven children were trapped under the debris when the roof collapsed early in the morning in Rahimabad Bassi area of Alpuri tehsil,” Rescue 1122 spokesperson Rasool Khan Sharif said.
Rescuers rushed to the emergency call and pulled out all victims from the rubble in an hour, he added.
All the children were asleep when the incident occurred, officials said. Six of them killed on the scene, while the injured child was reported to be in a severe condition.
Nazira Bibi, 14, Samira Bibi, 13, Umaira, 12, Nayab, seven, Haya Noor, five, and Rizwanullah, five, were identified as the dead. The injured child was identified as Marwa, 11.
Rescue personnel said this was not an unusual incidence, recalling that three children died last month in a similar roof fall in the Prang Majoki region of Charsadda district, which also gravely injured a couple.
