Talal Chaudhry says smuggling down 80 percent this year

The Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry on Wednesday claimed that smuggling has fallen by 80 percent during the current year. Appreciating the role of Pakistan Coast Guards in combating drugs trafficking and unlawful cargo through water routes, he said.
Talal Chaudhry attended the Pakistan Coast Guards recruits passing-out parade ceremony. The principal guest was welcomed by Director General Pakistan Coast Guards Major General Javad Riaz.
During the occasion, the Pakistan Coast Guards trainees gave a salute to the minister.
Speaking at the occasion, Talal Chaudhry stated that 23 Pakistan Coast Guards personnel have laid down their lives to assist keep the peace along the Pakistan coastline. He said that the situation along the coast had improved considerably thanks to the efforts of the force and called the Pakistan Coast Guards a very competent and efficient force.
He further said that the work of the Coast Guards in stopping the drug smuggling and unlawful maritime transportation has always been laudable adding that numerous welfare programs for Pakistan Coast Guards soldiers are now underway.
The minister further added that the prevention of illegal migration has remained a trademark of the Pakistan Coast Guards, while the force is also playing an essential role in the conservation of marine life.
