The State Bank of Pakistan announces that banks around the country would be closed on Labour Day.

The State Bank of Pakistan has declared that banks nationwide will be closed on May 1 in recognition of Labour Day, pursuant to the federal government’s announcement of a public holiday.
In a notification released on Tuesday, the central bank said that all banking institutions, including the State Bank, will be closed on Friday, May 1, 2026.
Labour Day, or May Day, is globally commemorated to express solidarity with workers and acknowledge the efforts and rights of the labour force.
The day emphasises initiatives to protect labourers and industrial workers from exploitation while advocating for job security and workers’ welfare.
