Three PASSCO officers among six arrested over wheat scam charge

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has detained six suspects, including senior officials of the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (PASSCO) in an alleged wheat embezzlement case causing losses of over Rs347.6 million to the national exchequer.

The accused who were also arrested include the Deputy General Manager (DGM), Project Manager and Vigilance Officer of PASSCO’s Multan Zone, FIA spokesman said.

The suspects have been charged with conspiring to embezzle 25,058 bags of locally procured wheat in 2024, resulting in a loss of about Rs332.1 million to the national exchequer.

Separately, the suspects also face charges of embezzling 105.3 metric tonnes of imported wheat in 2022, resulting in an estimated loss of approximately Rs15.4 million to the government exchequer.

The alleged irregularities in the two cases resulted in a combined loss of around Rs347.6 million, FIA officials claimed.

The arrests were in conjunction with case number 39/2026. FIA Multan has initiated further investigations to ascertain the circumstances of the alleged embezzlement and fix the responsibility of the accused.

The suspects have yet to be brought before the courts to determine the truth of the charges against them.
