Punjab CM Maryam shares video of petrol pump worker slapping arrested man

LAHORE (Web Desk): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz uploaded a video on social media showing the arrest of a guy who allegedly assaulted a petrol pump staff.

In the footage posted by Maryam Nawaz, the man in police custody is smacked hard by the petrol pump staff.

Sharing the video, Maryam Nawaz said it was a smack in the face of arrogant and powerful people who consider the poor inferior and think that wealth and power take them beyond the law and they can do anything they want and escape punishment.

She remarked that as the chief minister of Punjab, she stood with the oppressed, regardless matter how powerful the people responsible for their oppression were.

Maryam Nawaz also said that no one can be exempted from accountability under the law due to riches, influence or political ties. Justice, she maintained, was not a monopoly of the affluent and powerful, but a fundamental right of every person.

No one was above the law and no victim should be left alone just because the person opposing him had money and influence, the chief minister said.

She underlined her pledge to do “everything possible” to guarantee justice for victims, adding no one would be permitted to evade legal accountability on the grounds of money or influence.
