Up to 5 degrees could be the new normal in Punjab until May 10: PDMA

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a warning advisory, anticipating a major spike in daytime temperatures by up to 5 degrees Celsius until May 10, as the oppressive heatwave continues to tighten its hold over Punjab.

A PDMA representative issues a warning, stating that plains areas, in particular, are predicted to experience the worst heatwave damage.

Additionally, from May 10 to 12, the spokesperson predicts the arrival of dusty winds and perhaps showers in the majority of Punjab’s districts. Moreover, thunderstorms are predicted to hit southern Punjab on May 10 and 11.

In order to counteract the heatwave, the head of PDMA has asked the public to adopt preventative measures. PDMA DG Irfan Ali Kathia has urged “drink more water and avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun.”
