Japan and Pakistan decide to hold an “economic policy dialogue.”

The next round of the high-level Economic Policy Dialogue between Japan and Pakistan will take place as soon as possible.

A press statement stated that Wada Mitsuhiro, the Japanese ambassador plenumpotentiary and extraordinary to Pakistan, and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema came to this agreement during their meeting.

Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Chief Representative Naoaki Miyata was with the ambassador. The gathering also included senior representatives from the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

Pakistan places a high value on the financial aid that the Japanese government provides, according to Minister Ahad Cheema.

He emphasised Pakistan’s economic benefit from Japan as well as the views and principles that the two countries have in common on a range of international issues.

Having started in 1954, he said, Pakistan and Japan have had a long history of bilateral collaboration spanning more than seven decades.

In areas of mutually agreed-upon importance like water, education, health, and the environment, Ambassador Wada reiterated Japan’s steadfast commitment to serving Pakistan.

He briefed the minister on the status of the ongoing development portfolio funded by the Japanese government, including the scholarships programme for the purpose of building the capacity of Pakistani government civil service officers and the special assistance package given in the wake of the devastating floods of 2022.

Assuring the efficient execution and evaluation of ongoing projects while fostering deeper bilateral relations, Minister Cheema reassured Ambassador Wada of Pakistan’s commitment to working closely with the Government of Japan.
