Oman foreign minister to visit Pakistan for two-day official trip

Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Al Busaidi will undertake a two-day official visit to Pakistan from Tuesday at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar.

The visit will also witness the 8th session of Pakistan-Oman Joint Ministerial Commission in Islamabad during which the foreign ministers of the two countries will meet to review bilateral ties and explore avenues for enhancing cooperation in various fields.

The two ministers will co-chair the conference, which is anticipated to evaluate the entire spectrum of connections between Pakistan and Oman and identify areas where collaboration may be further strengthened.

The eighth session of the commission will deal with several facets of the long-standing connection between the two countries. The conference, according to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, would discuss developing mutually beneficial collaboration in many fields.

The joint commission provides a venue for the two sides to examine their bilateral engagement and to discuss prospects to further enhance collaboration. The involvement of the foreign ministers is intended to offer a new push to discussions on common interests and future cooperation.

Al Busaidi is also slated to see Pakistan’s prime minister during his stay but no more specifics of the anticipated meeting have been announced.

Pakistan and Oman enjoy long-standing relations based on historical, cultural and people-to-people links. Both countries have maintained their interactions through diplomatic contacts and bilateral institutions to foster cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The Foreign Office in a statement said that the visit of the Omani foreign minister was symbolic of the time-tested fraternal relations between the two countries.

“The ministry expressed confidence that the visit will further cement the mutually beneficial cooperation between the two sides in various fields as Islamabad was all set to host the two-day engagement.
