Today, US State Department representatives arrived in Pakistan for a two-day summit.

Today is the expected arrival of John Bass, the acting US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, in Islamabad for a two-day visit of great importance.

Since the recent general elections and the installation of a new administration in Pakistan, this is the first time that the US and Pakistan have held high-level discussions.

Bass will meet with Pakistani authorities and discuss a wide range of bilateral relations and regional security issues during his visit, according to the State Department. The significance of this visit stems from the fact that it demonstrates both countries’ dedication to fostering stronger relations and sustaining an encouraging conversation.

The American envoy traveled to Doha, Qatar, before coming to Islamabad, demonstrating the continued diplomatic exchange between the States and Qatar. NATO soldiers’ withdrawal from Afghanistan was greatly aided by the US-Taliban negotiations that took place in Doha in 2020.

Given that the Iranian president just visited Pakistan, the acting deputy secretary of state for the United States’ visit to Islamabad is very noteworthy.

Acting as the State Secretary of Pakistan, John Bass visited bilateral relations.
