245 cases have been filed by Punjab police against flyers and kite producers.

According to reports, Punjab police stepped up their crackdown on kite flyers and makers on the orders of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in response to the death of a youth in Faisalabad due to a kite string.

Over 54,000 kites and 800 strings were discovered in the custody of the accused suspects.

Over the last month, the police have arrested up to 3233 persons and filed over 3100 cases.

Meanwhile, police have discovered an online kite sales network and detained five suspects in a serial of killings in Faisalabad, according to City Police Officer (CPO) Muhammad Ali Zia.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, he stated that Asif Shafiq of Samanabad was on his way to the Novelty overhead bridge in the Factory Area police boundaries when the string caused a significant injury to his throat, killing him instantly.

The police used CCTV footage to determine that an accused Muhammad Abid Gujjar, a resident of Sir Syed Town, was flying a kite on the rooftop of Punjab Bank on that day.
