Railways raise goods train tariffs by 2%.

Pakistan Railways has raised the goods train tariff by two percent in response to the rise in diesel prices.

The notification states that effective April 20, the four cargo express trains would not be subject to the 2% rise in the freight charge.

Railway authorities have chosen not to immediately raise the tariffs of passenger trains, in contrast to cargo trains. Recall that on April 16, the government raised the price of diesel by eight rupees, fourteen paisa.

A few weeks ago, Pakistan Railways made major progress in the nation’s rail transportation industry by revealing the longest goods train in its history.

This fifty-bogy, 2,500-foot goods train represents a new era of capacity and efficiency in cargo transportation.

Riding on the powerful GEU 40 super engine, the largest and longest goods train in the department’s history set out from Karachi carrying more than 3,000 tonnes of cargo headed for Kotri. It reached a peak speed of sixty kilometres per hour and an average of thirty-eight kilometres per hour.
