In an investigation into overbilling, LESCO “bars” officials from testifying before the FIA.

Despite being summoned on April 9, the power utility’s revenue officers have not appeared before the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), according to sources, indicating that tensions between the two agencies still exist.

The FIA called revenue officials with the two-year record, which included deduction units and units charged for meter changes, they add.

Citing LESCO management, the sources stated that LESCO officers will not appear before the FIA. It was suggested that the FIA officers modify their “behavior” as the LESCO officials are also connected to a respectable organization.

A study into overbilling complaints in the areas of Kasur, Okara, Sheikhupura, and Nankana Sahib by the Lahore Electric Supply Company was started by the FIA last month.

Acting against overbilling in the Lahore Electric Supply Company region, the National Electronic Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) took action in February.

After reading the study, the authority promised to take action against XENs, and any filed officers found to have engaged in overbilling will lose their positions.
