Rainfall and destructive flash floods are wreaking havoc in Balochistan.

With the severing of land links with many locations, Harnai and surrounding areas face floods in local rivers and nullahs. The Harnai-Quetta-Punjab route was closed to traffic for the fourth day in a row.

On the second day, train service on the Sibi-Harnai railway line was suspended due to damage caused by flooding to the railway track.

Track maintenance has reportedly begun, according to railway officials.

Some vehicles carrying picnickers were carried away by flooding water, according to the Chagai district government. “The people fled to the adjacent hills and survived, even though the vehicles were destroyed,” the district administration said.

A local dam had a breach at Toba Kakari in Pishin. As per DC Jumadad Mandokhel, “the workers of the irrigation department and PDMA filled earth around the dam to strengthen it.” The deputy commissioner stated, “After 48 years, the earth filling in the dam’s outer portion was completed.”

Bala Nari has seen the inundation of the Nari River from the Naseerabad district. While several acres of wheat in Mithri were ruined by water, the locals were moved to safer areas.

Amidst catastrophic flash floods in Balochistan, the Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted further rain.

Quetta: The Meteorological Department had forecast further rain, but the initial round of rainfall in Balochistan had not yet ceased.

Additional rain is predicted for the province through April 19, per the Met Office.

Thirty-three millimeters of rain fell in Quetta in the past twenty-four hours, while Sibbi received twenty-eight millimeters, Barkhan 07 received seventeen, Sumingli eleven, Lasbela five, and Nokundi received two millimeters.

Turbat, Gwadar, Kech, and Panjgur had severe and gusty winds on Monday.

Due to the persistently strong rains that pounded many regions of the province, killing and wounding numerous people, the government of Balochistan has declared an urban flood and rain emergency, a government official announced on Monday.
