Today, a huge crowd will gather in Peshawar to witness the Ramadan crescent.

Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad will preside over the central Ruet-e-Hilal committee meeting at the Auqaf Hall in Peshawar. The zonal moon-sighting committee will also convene there.

On Shaban 29, following Asr prayers, meetings of the other zonal and district Ruet-e-Hilal Committees would take place concurrently at their respective locations.

Depending on whether the Ramazan moon is seen on March 12, the central, zonal, and local moon-sighting committees will declare whether or not fasting is to start.

The Ramadan crescent moon was observed on Sunday evening, and Muslims in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and other Gulf nations celebrated the start of Ramadan 2024.

According to the Islamic lunar calendar, the ninth month is Ramadan-ul-Mubarak, or the month of fasting.

Muslims are advised to concentrate on meditation activities like prayers, reading the Holy Quran, and charitable giving during the fast, and they are forbidden from eating, drinking, gossiping, and abusing language.

Mosques fill with the sound of worshipers reciting lines from the Quran during the unique Taraweeh prayers.
